What is a smart warehouse?

A smart warehouse is a facility that integrates automation, robotics and management software to operate with minimal human intervention. It combines automated storage systems (ASRS), stacker cranes, robots and real-time data to maximize density, traceability and speed. It is the evolution of the traditional warehouse toward Logistics 4.0.

What is the difference between an automated warehouse and a traditional one?

A traditional warehouse relies on manual work: operators walking, forklifts and static racking. An automated warehouse replaces those trips with stacker cranes, robots and software that bring the goods to the operator (goods-to-person). The result is more density per square meter, up to 99.9% accuracy, 24/7 operation and a use of vertical space impossible to achieve manually.

Is automation worth it for SMEs?

Yes. There are scalable automation solutions starting from USD 150,000, and in Argentina SMEs have access to tax benefits (RIMI, reduced tariff by NCM, 10.5% VAT, BICE financing) that improve the ROI.
