High-density push-back racking — LIFO system with inclined rails and pallet carts

Technical description

DELIE push-back (push-in) racking is a high-density LIFO-type pallet storage system, designed with inclined rails and pallet carts. Pallets are loaded and retrieved from the same side of the racking. The rails are slightly inclined so pallets advance automatically toward the front by their own weight, enabling a semi-automatic, smooth pallet flow with no forklifts entering the aisle.

How it works

01

Pallet loading

The forklift deposits the pallet on the cart of the front position and pushes it inward, making the previous pallet move toward the back. The rail inclination keeps pallets in contact with no additional force needed.

02

LIFO retrieval

The last pallet loaded is the first to leave (LIFO). The forklift removes the front pallet and the remaining ones advance automatically toward the front by gravity. The operation is safe because the forklift never enters the channel.

03

High density with a single aisle

The system allows up to 5 pallets deep per position with access from a single side, significantly reducing circulation aisles and maximizing storage density versus conventional selective racking.

DELIE technology in Argentina

DELIE — official STOKA representation

DELIE push-back racking is the most cost-effective high-density solution when the LIFO system is acceptable for the operation. It eliminates the risk of racking damage from forklift entry and reduces the aisles needed versus the conventional selective system.

DELIE has more than 1,000 active installations in over 30 countries. STOKA is the exclusive representative in Argentina: engineering, installation and local technical support without depending on overseas factory lead times. Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

When is push-back better than drive-in?

Both are high-density LIFO systems, but push-back does not require the forklift to enter the channel, which reduces racking damage and improves operational safety. Drive-in allows greater depth (up to 10 pallets) but requires a forklift inside the aisle.

Does it work for products with an expiry date?

Push-back is a LIFO system: the last pallet loaded is the first to leave. For products with strict expiry (mandatory FEFO/FIFO), the shuttle system or stacker crane is recommended, which guarantee configurable rotation.

What happens if a pallet cart fails?

The cart design is simple and robust. In case of failure, the cart is replaced without dismantling the racking. STOKA has spare parts stock in Argentina for fast response.

Can it be used in cold storage?

Yes. DELIE push-back rails and carts are available in a cold version (-30 °C), with materials and lubrication suitable for continuous operation at low temperatures.
