WCS — Warehouse Control System

Real-time control of all warehouse equipment

DELIE WCS — real-time warehouse control
DELIE

STOKA es el representante oficial exclusivo de DELIE en Argentina y Chile.

Technical description

The DELIE WCS (Warehouse Control System) is the real-time brain that controls and coordinates all warehouse automation equipment: stacker cranes, shuttles, conveyors, AGV/AMR robots, palletizers and VLM. It operates as a control layer between the WMS (management) and the PLCs (hardware), translating business orders into equipment commands with latencies under 50 ms. The DELIE WCS is the only one on the market developed by the same manufacturer as the equipment it controls, guaranteeing the deepest and most reliable integration.

How it works

01

Receiving missions from the WMS

The WCS receives movement missions from the WMS (store pallet X in location Y, retrieve container Z for order W). The WCS breaks down each mission into low-level commands for the different equipment involved and coordinates them to execute the complete mission.

02

Real-time control

The WCS monitors the status of each piece of equipment with a 100 ms update frequency. It detects errors, alarms and deviations before they cause stops. The integrated diagnosis system identifies the root cause of each alarm and suggests the corrective action.

03

Flow optimization

The WCS scheduling algorithm optimizes the order and assignment of missions to maximize system throughput and minimize conflicts between equipment. In installations with multiple stacker cranes and shuttles, the WCS balances the load to avoid bottlenecks.

DELIE technology in Argentina

DELIE — official STOKA representation

The DELIE WCS is the only control system developed by the same manufacturer as the stacker cranes, shuttles and conveyors it controls. This eliminates the integration bugs typical of third-party solutions and guarantees that equipment firmware updates are always compatible with the WCS version.

DELIE has more than 1,000 active installations in over 30 countries. STOKA is the exclusive representative in Argentina: engineering, installation and local technical support without depending on overseas factory lead times. World-class technology at a price for the LATAM market. More about DELIE in Argentina →

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How does the WCS differ from the WMS?

The WMS (management) decides WHAT to do: where to store, what to pick, how to consolidate orders. The WCS (control) decides HOW to do it: which stacker crane moves, at what speed, in what sequence. The WMS talks to the ERP; the WCS talks to the equipment PLCs. Both communicate with each other in real time.

Can the WCS control equipment from different manufacturers?

The DELIE WCS has drivers for the most common PLCs on the market (Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider). It can control conveyors or auxiliary equipment from other manufacturers as long as they have a standard communication interface. Integration with legacy equipment is evaluated case by case.

What happens if the WCS server fails?

The WCS runs on a redundant server (active/passive) with automatic failover in under 30 seconds. Each physical piece of equipment (stacker crane, shuttle) has a local PLC with emergency operating modes that keeps the warehouse running in degraded mode until the WCS is restored.

Does the WCS give real-time visibility of the warehouse status?

Yes. The WCS SCADA panel shows the status of each piece of equipment, the position of each pallet or tote, the missions in progress and the operational KPIs (throughput, uptime, active alarms) in real time from any browser. No client software is required: access from PC, tablet or smartphone.
